Higher Education, Closer to Home

Your postcode should never determine your potential.

At CUC North West we believe where you live shouldn’t limit what you can achieve.

We support people across the North West to access higher education without having to leave their communities, families and careers behind. Through our Centre’s in Moree and Narrabri, students have access to modern study facilities, personalised support and a connected learning environment that helps them succeed.

Whether you are leaving school, returning to study after a break, changing careers or pursuing postgraduate qualifications, we’re here to support your journey.

Since opening in 2019, we have supported more than 800 students from across the region. Today, around 160 students each semester choose CUC North West as part of their higher education journey.

Supporting Students, Strengthening Communities

Every student who succeeds creates a positive impact beyond themselves.

Many of the students we support are studying in fields that are critical to the future of the North West, including health, education, agriculture, business and community services.

By helping people gain qualifications closer to home, we contribute to a stronger local workforce, thriving communities and greater opportunities across the region. We believe higher education should be accessible, achievable and connected to the communities it serves.

How We Support Our Students

Studying from a regional area comes with unique challenges. Distance, work commitments, family responsibilities and limited access to campus facilities can all make higher education more difficult.

CUC North West provides practical support that helps students overcome those barriers.

Registered students have access to:

  • Free, modern study facilities
  • High-speed internet and technology
  • Academic skills support
  • Student workshops and resources
  • Quiet and collaborative learning spaces
  • A supportive local learning community
  • Extended centre access seven days per week.

We support students studying with any Australian University or Higher Education Provider.

Building the Future of the North West

At CUC North West, we see higher education as more than an individual opportunity.

Its a pathway to stronger communities, a skilled workforce, and a more prosperous future for our region.

As a community-owned, not for profit organisation, we work alongside schools, universities, local employers, local councils and community organisations to create opportunities that benefit both individuals and the wider North West.

Together, we are helping local people build successful futures while remaining connected to the communities they call home.

We’re Proud of Our Impact!

The CUC network operates in communities where universities cannot or will not go, from the coast to the outback, with the common goal of developing equitable access to higher education.

CUC North West is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Established through the vision and support of the NSW Government, Narrabri Shire Council, and Moree Plains Shire Council, our Centre was created to improve access to higher education opportunities across the North West region. Since then, CUC North West has secured ongoing Australian Government funding through the Regional University Study Hubs Program, ensuring the continued delivery of free study facilities and student support services. Additional funding and strategic partnerships have been developed through collaborations with universities, the Eastern Australian Universities and Regional Universities Centres partnership, and a range of grant-funded initiatives that strengthen educational access and outcomes for regional communities.

Live. Study. Stay.

We look forward to continuing being part of the future of higher education for the North West region.
