Australian grown. Australian worn.

Cotton. Our uniform of choice.

If you haven’t heard the news, RB Sellars has recently started to use Australian cotton to produce some of their shirts. It should be no surprise then that we have embraced all things cotton, given it’s grown in our backyard, and are now wearing RB Sellars apparel as our work uniform. No, we’re not on a farm but many of our students are, or they are studying agriculture and cotton is part of their studies and their livelihoods.

Cotton is a major crop in north west NSW, particularly in Narrabri and Moree, where our centres are located. Approximately 66% of Australia’s cotton is grown in NSW. The industry generates over $3 billion per year in export earnings and provides employment for more than 7,000 people industry-wide [source: Australian Cotton Sustainability Update, 2023]. In an average year, Australia’s cotton growers produce enough cotton to cloth 500 million people, with 4 of them being the CUC North West team!
