Celebrating Community at the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Business Awards

On Saturday 10 October, members of our CUC North West team and students joined businesses, organisations and community leaders from across the Shire to celebrate the people and initiatives that make Narrabri such a special place to live, work and learn.

We were honored to be nominated at the 2026 Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. Having been named runner-up in the Not-for-Profit/Community Organisation category in 2025, we attended the evening simply to celebrate alongside our community and recognise the incredible work happening across the region.

So, when CUC North West was announced as runner-up for the second consecutive year, it was a wonderful and unexpected surprise.

A recognition shared by our community

For us, this recognition represents much more than an award. It reflects the collective effort of the people who make CUC North West what it is.

It belongs to our students, who are working towards their educational goals while balancing study with employment, family and life in regional NSW. It belongs to our staff, who are committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where students can feel connected and confident in their learning. And it belongs to the community, partners and supporters who believe in the importance of accessible higher education close to home.

At CUC North West, we believe that where you live should not limit what you can achieve. By providing local students with a dedicated study space, technology and personalised support, we help make higher education more accessible while enabling people to pursue their goals without necessarily having to leave the communities they call home.

Being recognised two years in a row is an encouraging reminder of why this work matters. Every student who takes a step towards their future contributes to something bigger: a more skilled, connected and resilient regional community.

Congratulations to the Namoi Women’s Shed

We would also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Namoi Women’s Shed, the deserving winners of the Not-for-Profit/Community Organisation category.

The work they do to create opportunities for connection, skills development and support is a wonderful example of the positive difference community organisations can make. We are proud to share this category with an organisation that contributes so meaningfully to our local community.

Thank you for being part of our story

Thank you to the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce for hosting an evening that celebrates the dedication, innovation and community spirit of local businesses and organisations.

To our students, staff, partners and supporters, thank you for being part of the CUC North West journey. Your involvement and encouragement help us continue creating opportunities for regional students and strengthening access to higher education across our community.

We look forward to continuing to connect, grow and support our students and community in the year ahead.
